Pearl River Community Cleanup Draws Over 100 Volunteers

Hundreds of volunteers turn out for Pearl River, Congers and Spring Valley Community Cleanups.

Scouts, students, families, Pearl River Lions club, Cornell Club of Rockland, Keystone Landscaping Company, Orangetown Environmental Committee, Town Supervisor Andy Stewart and Highway Superintendent Jim Dean were among the 100-plus volunteers who participated in the the 2013 Pearl River Community Cleanup.

Volunteers spread out around the town to cleanup steets, parks, streams, and school grounds. Interesting trash included an air conditioner, two rusted car seats, an old typewriter, a rusted bed frame, carpeting and much, much more.

Over 230 bags of trash and recyclables were gathered and lots of larger metal debris. Many thanks to all who participated! Thanks also to all the musicians from the Irish School of Music who came along to entertain the volunteers at the Gazebo.
