Pearl River's Vision
A look inside Pearl River's finest fitness establishment: Vision Sports Club.
Spring is upon us, and for the past week, I’ve been wearing shorts and sandals. I have a feeling this warm weather is here to stay.
Alas, because I’m highly allergic to pollen, I haven’t been active outdoors despite the change in weather. Fortunately, there’s another option to staying in shape indoors—pollen free—at Vision Sports Club right here in Pearl River. Located just off Route 304 on Jefferson Avenue, it is one of our town’s finest establishments.
(Before I go any further, I want to let it be known I am in no way affiliated with Vision Sports Club. I’m merely one of the guys you see suffering on the treadmill.)

If you’ve worked out at Vision, you know how great it is. I’ve been a member for nearly three years, and it is still among my favorite places on planet Earth. What strikes me most is Vision’s immaculate condition. The machines, the lounges, the bathrooms—they’re all spotless. You could eat your lunch right off the granite counter tops. I am not exaggerating.
If you decide to check it out, a friendly member of the Vision staff will likely greet you. You’ll also find plenty of amenities to satisfy your fitness needs. If you’re looking for cardio, there are plenty of treadmills, stair climbers, bikes, and elliptical machines. For weight training, you have your choice of machines or free weights. Want to watch a movie while you work out? They have a theatre. Really, there’s a big screen in a dark room that plays movies and television shows. There’s even a popcorn machine in the corner.

Another fine option is group exercise. For some time, I looked down on these classes. I thought they were for people who couldn’t do a push-up on their own. I knew what I was doing in the gym. What did I need a class for? Then my wife convinced me to give it a try. I joined her for a class that incorporated both strength and cardio in a total workout. I have never had such a butt-kicking in all my life.
After an excruciating hour, I could barely walk out of the studio. But it sure was a good workout. Not only do I respect group exercise now, I’ve added several of the classes to my workout routine. And certified instructors teach them, so it’s nice having a professional guide me from time to time.
When I finish exercising, I often lounge in the sauna and enjoy a good sweat. Or if I’m particularly motivated, I’ll kick it up a notch and sit in the steam room. Best of all, there’s always plenty of clean towels. A guy at the gym can never have too many towels. Vision always delivers on this.
I should also mention that this fine facility also has a daycare center, a youth fit zone, a sprinting track, a spin studio, plenty of lockers, and a serenity studio. I’m sure I’ve left some things out, so check out Vision’s website.
I would blog more, but I’m afraid it’s time to hop on the treadmill for my two-mile run.
