Update: Plates Stolen in Hillcrest Found in Pearl River

The driver faces charges in Orangetown Court.

On June 18 the Orangetown Police arrested Jonathan V. Desvarieux of Spring Valley, NY.

Desvarieux, 27, was stopped for a traffic violation while operating a 2001 Nissan Maxima on North Middletown Road in Pearl River. The officer determined that the license plates on the Nissan did not belong on the vehicle and had been reported stolen by the Ramapo Police Department on May 26, 2015 in Hillcrest, NY.

Police said Desvarieux impersonated another person in an attempt to mislead the officer.

He was charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th Degree (misdemeanor) and Criminal impersonation in the 2nd degree (misdemeanor). He posted $250.00 bail and is due in Orangetown Court on July 14.
