Cops Accuse NJ Man Of Wrong-Way Driving In Pearl River

Other drivers had to take evasive action, police said.

PEARL RIVER, NY — A man from West New York, New Jersey is accused of driving drunk the wrong way on Veterans Memorial Drive.

It was 3:24 p.m. on Saturday, and he was headed west in the eastbound lanes, Orangetown police said. Many motorists had to take evasive action to prevent a head-on collision. Officers were able to stop him before a crash occurred.

Juan Agudo-Guaman, 34, was charged with felony DWI and with felony aggravated DWI, police said. He was released on bail and is due back in Orangetown town court May 8.
