Couple Accused of Breaking into Pearl River House While It Was Occupied
Orangetown police found two suspects a short distance away.
PEARL RIVER, NY — A local couple stand accused of breaking into an occupied home in Pearl River early Saturday morning. Orangetown police said they were called at 5:08 a.m., and canvassed the neighborhood based on a description of the suspects from the victim.
They found and held Matthew Lorber, 39, of Tappan, and Jennifer Marie Grassi, 38, of Blauvelt. (See more stories from your community. Find Your Patch.)
The two were taken to Orangetown Police Headquarters. They were charged with two felonies: 2nd-degree attempted burglary and third-degree criminal mischief; and three misdemeanors: 4th-degree conspiracy, possession of burglars tools and 7th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Lorber was sent to the Rockland County Jail on $25,000 bail. Grassi was also sent to jail, on $10,000 bail.
