Pearl River School Board meets

The Pearl River school board is set to meet at 7:30 p.m. in the Pirates Cove at Pearl River High School.

The Pearl River Board of Education usually meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, at 7:30 p.m.

Sometimes, meetings are changed to different dates. Meetings are held in the Pearl River High School Pirate Cove. All meetings are open to the public and include an opportunity to address the board, Questions, Concerns, and Praise.

An agenda is published on the school district's website and disseminated throughout district schools and to the media on the Friday prior to each meeting. Call the District Clerk, Mary Flanagan, at 620-3924 for meeting confirmation and an agenda.

The Board at Pearl River consists of five members - a president, vice president and three members. They are elected at large for three year terms. The Board functions as a unit and makes resolutions about the district's educational programs and financial matters.

Their actions have the force of law in the district's schools and the control and supervision of school district property. Within the framework of education law, the Board concerns itself with broad questions of policy, both their own and those recommended by its executive officer, the Superintendent of Schools.
