Final Deadline For 911 Victim Compensation Fund Is This Week

HUDSON VALLEY, NY —Thursday is the last day for those affected by a September 11th-related illness to register for the federal September 11th Victim Compensation Fund.

Once registered with the fund, victims can benefit from the World Trade Center Health Fund. Advocates for first responders stress that anyone who even suspects they have a claim should register before it's too late.

This final deadline of July 29 was extended two years from the original 2019 date by the Department of Justice. Anyone who has lost a family member to a 911 illness is also eligible.

The health benefits will run until 2090, ensuring full lifelong care for anyone affected.
