Biggest Ice Cream Social in Rockland County
When/Where: Friday, June 8 at 4 p.m. on the Central Ave. Field in Pearl River.
Why Go: Help try to break a world record, eat ice cream and help raise funds for the Franklin Ave. Elementary School Playground. This event sponsored by the Franklin Ave. School Playground Committee will include an attempt to break the Guinness World Record of 222 feet. That is a lot of ice cream.
Cost/Contact: Entry fee is $10 per person.

The Homegrown String Band
When/Where:
Sunday, June 10 at Pearl River Library
Why Go: They call themselves “A  Postmodern  Neo-Traditional  Old-Time String Band,” Georgianne and Rick Jackofsky and their daughters, Erica and Annalee, have been playing together since 1997. They play American Rural Music with instruments including guitar, banjo, fiddle, dulcimer, mandolin, banjo-ukulele, harmonica, jawharp, doumbek, and percussive dance. Pearl River Student Artist Reception/Gallery Dedication
When/Where: Saturday, June 9 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Pearl River Public LIbrary
Why Go: The library is hosting a reception for Pearl River students whose art will be on display in June from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The newly upgraded display area will be dedicated as the “Paula Bohovesky Art Gallery” at 2 p.m.

JCC Rockland Torch Run
When/Where: Sunday, June 10 at 10 a.m./Rockland Community College, 145 College Road, Suffern
Why Go: Meet us at the RCC Fieldhouse in Suffern for a continental breakfast and join us as we welcome the JCC Maccabi Games torch to RCC - the site of our Opening Ceremonies in August.

Intermediate Tote Bag Workshop
When/Where: Saturday, June 9 at 1 p.m./New City Library, 220 N Main St, New City
Why Go: Yoko Olsen returns to demonstrate how to use newspapers, magazines and glue to create functional tote bags. These bags, which can be personalized, are ideal for gift giving. This is the intermediate tote bag session for those who took the beginner class.

Free CPR Course Open to Participants 12 And Older
When/Where: Sunday, June 10 at 8 a.m./7 Elmwood Dr, New City,
Why Go: HealthSav will offer seven free one-hour adult CPR classes. This one-hour course will train anyone to recognize and immediately treat someone who has collapsed from cardiac arrest.  Unless immediate assistance is provided a person who in unconscious and not breathing will die in about four minutes.  Learn how this is NOT a heart attack as so many often assume.   This one-hour course will completely prepare you and is great for the whole family 12 years of age and above.

Teen Gardening Day
When/Where: Wednesday, June 6 from 2:30 - 4 p.m. at the with a raindate on June 7
Why Go: Put down those cell phones and get back in touch with nature. Teens from grades 7-12 can help lant some summer flowers and have fun doing it. Meet outside the Nanuet Library near the driveway entrance and there will be gummy worms for all who help

Arts & Craft Demo
When/Where: from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, June 9
Why Go: AC Moore has free Arts & Craft Demonstartion this Saturday. Stop by and watch "Martha Stewart Crafts: Craft Clay & Punch Around the Page." There are also 220 kids craft projects for only $1.
