Goshen Teen Receives HRHCare Alamo Recognition Award for Community Service
Goshen High School senior Mark Laaninen receives award for his community service work at the HRHCare Alamo Farmworker Community Center.
HRHCare Community Health is pleased to announce that Mark Laaninen, a senior at Goshen High School, received a special HRHCare Alamo Recognition Award for his community service work at the HRHCare Alamo Health and Farmworker Community Centers at Goshen. Presented with his award at the Annual Volunteer Luncheon at the Alamo, Mark was joined by nearly 30 other volunteers at the ceremony.
Volunteering his time at the Alamo since the age 12, Mark began his service there by helping with the Hot Meals Program which provides a free meal to local agricultural workers and their families on Sundays. He has also been a regular volunteer with both the summer enrichment program and after-school homework help sessions. These activities, only made possible through the work of volunteers like Mark, serve over 400 agricultural workers and their families each month. Mark, who was accompanied to the ceremony by his mother, also received recognition for his work as an Eagle Scout.
“The children have grown attached to Mark and will miss him as he leaves for college this year,” said Katherine Brieger, MA, RD, CCE, Chief of Patient Experience and Staff Development at HRHCare. “He has made a significant contribution to the lives of so many served by the Alamo.”
