Gov. Candidate Zephyr Teachout Supports Periodic Revaluations

The Democratic gubernatorial candidate is hoping to force incumbent and fellow Democrat Gov. Andrew Cuomo into a primary.

In an interview with The Journal News, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Zephyr Teachout says she would support a mandate of periodic property revaluations.

Several states, including adjacent Connecticut, have regular property revaluations that help set tax rates and other things, but New York does not mandate property revaluations and many have not conducted them in a very long time, writes reporter David McKay Wilson.

“Revaluation is essential in a very dynamic economy,” Teachout told The Journal News. “We need to have an accountable, fair government. And you can’t be accountable if your numbers are off.”
