GRAND OPENING! Homes For Heroes Veterans Hospitality Center

Habitat for Humanity of Rockland volunteers have spent months converting the WWII Camp Shanks PX building into a community room for use by our Veterans at Homes For Heroes. Please join us as we dedicate the new Hospitality Center and celebrate the Anniversary of VE Day!

Saturday, May 9, at 11:00am, at Homes For Heroes, 335 Western Highway, Tappan, NY

~ Time Capsule
~ Historic Marker commemorating the role of this site during WWII as the largest port of embarkation in history, where 1.3 million GI’s sailed to fight Nazis on D-Day. After WWII, it was used as a NIKE Missile Base Headquarters, an Army Reserve Headquarters, and now a living memorial in use by “HOMES FOR HEROES,” permanent rental garden apartments for displaced and disabled honorably discharged Veterans.
