Hearing on Poverty Issues at Pearl River Library July 30

State Sen. David Carlucci is chair of the Senate Committee on Social Services.

The first of a series of statewide hearings on poverty issues in New York will take place Thursday at the Pearl River Library.

Senator David Carlucci (D – Rockland/Westchester), is hosting, as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Social Services.

The hearings will examine the current system of supportive services for individuals who are receiving social services in New York State and New York City. Carlucci will be looking at issues related to homelessness, work training and education, services for children, adults, families and seniors, current levels of funding of both nonprofit providers and government entities and modernizing the current welfare system.

The goal of these hearings is to identify problems that the Committee on Social Services should address in the upcoming legislative session.
