Honorees for Rockland's 55th Saint Patrick’s Day Parade
The 2017 Grand Marshall will be following in her father's footsteps March 19.

PEARL RIVER, NY — The 55th Rockland County Saint Patrick’s Day Parade is coming up soon. Here are the notable people being honored this year, from the A.O.H:
2017 Grand Marshal is Carmel Reilly. She has been an active member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians for the past 15 years. A Pearl River resident, she is a Dominican College alumna. She was recognized by the Rockland County Ancient Order of Hibernians /Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians in 2008 as Hibernian of the Year. In 2010 she was honored with their Distinguished Service Awards by Irish Northern Aid and Rockland G.A.A. And Reilly is following in her father’s footsteps. Matt Reilly of Blauvelt led the line of march 43 years ago.
2017 Hibernian of the Year is Thomas Zugibe, Rockland County District Attorney and a longtime supporter of the A.O.H.

Hibernian Businesswomen of the Year: Kay O’Grady, from Luigi O’Grady’s, sharing the honor with her daughter Michelle O’Grady Worob. She and her husband Sean were charter members of the Rockland Irish American Cultural Center in Blauvelt. She has co-owned Luigi O’Grady’s along with her daughter for almost 20 years, and have made it a priority to give back the community that has supported them in their success.
Rockland County Aide to the Grand Marshal NYC St. Patrick's Day Parade: Helen Kilgallen Murphy, who started marching the Pearl River parade in 1963! She's been marching or active ever since, with the L.A.O.H. and the parade committee.

2017 Rockland County St. Patrick’s Parade Commander: Lt. Michael Shannon, Orangetown Police Department. According to the A.O.H., Lt. Shannon has marched with the Orangetown Police Honor Guard in the parade escorting the Grand Marshall and Parade Commander for the past 20 years.

Remember, the parade steps off at 1:30 p.m. March 19 but police close the streets long before that!
