I Wish Everyone Could Love their Home Town Like I Love Mine !

Let's start with two Hudson River shoreline communities, both of which are destination Villages for everyone, Piermont and Nyack !

Then let's go to the hamlet of Tappan which is home to two historic War sites - the Revolutionary War visited many time by George Washington and the WW II legendary "Camp Shanks-Last Stop USA" from which over 1.3 million GIs left to fight the nazi army, many of whom died fighting on D-Day.

Next are two cultural headquarters for two of Orangetown's largest populations - the Sons of Italy Lodge in the hamlet of Blauvelt and the Ancient Order of Hibernians Headquarters in the hamlet of Pearl River.

Moving on are the second largest Irish Gaelic Athletic Association Sports Center outside of Dublin and the incredible Orangetown Youth Sports Fields on the former surplus property of the New York State Rockland Psychiatric Center in the hamlet of Orangeburg. Both amazing.

Next are two great highly rated Colleges for their excellence - Dominican University in the hamlet of Orangeburg and the College of St. Thomas of Aquinas in the hamlet of Sparkill. They are Treasures for the Town and the entire North East Coast

And finally three world wide acclaimed science research institutions, starting with the New York State Nathan Kline Psychiatric Institute in the hamlet of Orangeburg, next the Lerdele Laboratory In the hamlet of Pearl River, which had a leadership role in WW II and the current pandemic - ending up with the Columbia University Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory in the hamlet of Palisades. All three world giants !

Every story has to end, so mine will with two music shrines - one is the Rockland Conservatory of Music in the hamlet of Pearl River and the Turning Point Cafe in the Village of Piermont.

There are other iconic places of course, so I will make it my business to identify them.

One very important post script - Nyack Hospital/Montefiore Hospital is not mentioned because there is no other hospital in the world/never mind the Town, as great. I do know it because it saved my life 3 times.
