Interested in a Law Enforcement Career in Pearl River? Sign Up for Exam

The deadline to apply for the Rockland County test is Sept. 30.

NEW CITY, NY – Six weeks remain before the deadline for applications to take the Civil Service exams to become a police or patrol officer in Rockland County.

Rockland County Executive Ed Day and Rockland Personnel Commissioner Joan Silvestri urge anyone interested in law enforcement to apply to take the Civil Service examination, which will be held on Nov. 19.
Applications must be postmarked by Sept. 30.

"This is an opportunity to begin a career in law enforcement – a proud and rewarding profession," said Day, a former NYPD commander.

A total of 721 applications have already been received. That includes applicants who want to take language-specific tests. A total of 66 people applied to take the Spanish-speaking test, 14 applied for the French/Creole exam and three for the test that requires Yiddish.

The tests, which are the first step in the process of becoming a police officer, are administered by the County of Rockland. Applications are now being accepted online at rocklandgov.com and by mail.

Applications to take the examinations are available:
· online at https://mycivilservice.rocklandgov.com/exams or by clicking here.
· at the Rockland County Department of Personnel, 18 New Hempstead Road, New City, NY 10956
· at any town or village police station within Rockland County and at the Rockland County Sheriff's Office.

Eligibility requirements to take the exam can be also found online at rocklandgov.com or by contacting the Department of Personnel at 845-638-5200/05.

The application filing fee per examination is $30. Remember, applications must be postmarked by Sept. 30.
