Komen Race for Cure Personal for Pfizer Pearl River Colleague
Laura Elbakry knows so many who've had breast cancer that she does the Komen walk for this generation and the next.

From Pfizer Pearl River
This year’s Komen Greater NYC Race for the Cure marked the fourth time Laura Elbakry, an associate director for the Vaccine Research and Development group at Pfizer, joined her Pearl River colleagues and hundreds of others from across the company to raise money for life-saving services and research to find cures for breast cancer. It remains as meaningful an event as the first time she walked the New York City 5K course with her family.
“I have many friends and family members that have had breast cancer. Some were able to fight through and are in remission and some sadly lost the battle against the deadly disease," Elbakry said. "Most recently, my aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer. I witnessed, first-hand, the devastating impact it can have on a person’s life. I have held her hand through a mastectomy and many of her treatments and to attempt to articulate the horrible fight against breast cancer would never do it justice. I walk for her and anyone out there fighting for their lives. I truly believe it's so important that we unite in our footsteps for this generation and the next in hopes that we may live in a world without cancer."
