ORANGEBURG, NY — A man accused of cutting the alarm sensor on a gate at Lowe's and walking off with two big-ticket items faces charges in Orangetown court.
Police were called to the Lowe's Home Improvement Center on Route 303 in January on a report of brazen shoplifting. Store security said a man had cut the alarm wire to the gate of the outside Lawn and Garden section, and walked out through the gate with a Dyson vacuum cleaner. He then returned, and walked out with a snow thrower.
Police investigation focused on Barry Everett of the Bronx as a suspect. The 57-year-old was arrested June 28 and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, third-degree criminal mischief, and petty larceny. He is due back in court July 25.
