PEARL RIVER, NY — O&R delivered two new huge electrical transformers, weighing over 200 tons each, to its Ramapo substation in Hillburn Wednesday afternoon.

These two units, which cost a total of $5.7 million, are critical for the reliable and economic operation of O&R’s electric transmission system.

From there, they were transported by rail to a siding adjacent to the municipal parking lot on Hallet Place in downtown Suffern. They were off-loaded onto two specially-designed, 105-feet-long, hydraulic flatbed trucks for the four-mile trip to O&R’s Ramapo substation on Torne Valley Road in Hillburn.
