O&R Restoring Power After Ida

Power has returned to most of the 17,000 O&R customers who lost it as a result of high winds and heavy rains, the utility company said.

ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY — As of 6:45 a.m., O&R reported power had been restored to about 14,500 of the 17,000 O&R customers who lost electricity as a result of high gusty winds and heavy rains from Tropical Depression Ida.

O&R crews continue to work to restore electric service to the remaining approximately 2,500 who remain out, company officials said.

For safety’s sake, don’t touch or approach any downed wire. Strong winds may knock trees and branches onto power lines, causing customers to lose service.
