Officers Chase, Revive, Arrest Man
The Briarcliff Manor resident was sent from Nyack Hospital to Rockland County Jail.
Orangetown police officers responded to Sunset Road in Blauvelt after an alert neighbor observed a suspicious man attempting to enter vehicles parked in a residential driveway.
Officers confronted the man—later identified as Bassem Yousef of Briarcliff Manor, NY—and when he fled they chased him through back yards, woods and a stream between Sunset Road and Burows Lane.
He collapsed in a back yard and was taken into custody.

Police said Yousef was found with two credit cards allegedly stolen from vehicles parked in driveways on Ellsworth Drive. He was also in possession of 16 packets of heroin, 16 Hydrocodone pills, 23 Xanax pills and 2 packets of cocaine.
He was taken to Orangetown Police Headquarters in Orangeburg where it was determined that he was suffering from a drug overdose. Officers revived him with Narcan and he was taken to Nyack Hospital for further treatment.

Yousef was charged with the following offenses:
- Criminal Possession Of Stolen Property 4th degree (2 counts) Felony
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree (5 counts)
- Resisting Arrest
Yousef, 28, was arraigned at Nyack Hospital by Judge Finning and sent to the Rockland County Jail pending a future appearance in Orangetown Court.
