One NYPD Officer Released from Hospital after Bronx Shooting

Garnerville resident Aliro Pellerano was shot in the chest and arm.

Officer Aliro Pellerano, 38, who was wounded in the chest and arm when a gunman opened fire on officers responding to a robbery Jan. 5 in the Bronx, was released from St. Barnabas Hospital this afternoon.

His partner, Andrew Dossi of Stony Point, remains hospitalized after surgery.

They were were part of a five-member plain clothes Anti-Crime team who went back out at the end of their shift to search for suspects wanted for an armed robbery that had happened 10 minutes earlier at a grocery store on East 180th Street.

Two men were arrested yesterday in connection with the robbery and shootings.

Jason Polanco, 24, faces charges of attempted murder of a police officer, attempted murder, robbery, criminal possesion of a weapon and assault. Joshua Kemp, 28, was charged with robbery, grand larceny, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of stolen property.

They were arrested after police released surveillance video and received 29 tips from the public, according to PIX11.com.
