Orangetown Participates in National Night Out

The 5th Annual Orangetown National Night Out drew a crowd to Tappan Zee High School Aug. 7, 2012.

The Orangeburg Volunteer Fire Dept. and St. Thomas Aquinas College Security brought the National Night Out to Orangetown Tuesday at Tappan Zee High School.

The Orangetown Police Dept, local fire and ambulance corps also joined in the event, which is part of the 29th Annual National Night Out, a program designed to foster connections between law enforcement and communities and improving awareness of crime and drug prevention.

The New York National Guard Counter Drug Task Force, which also does presentations in schools, was on hand to talk to adults and children.

In addition to a bouncy slide and football throw, there was a skate park and a fireworks display. The event is in its fifth year in Orangetown, moving back to Tappan Zee after two years at Veteran's Memorial Park.
