Forestdance is a trio that features traditional African instruments such as bala, mbira, djembe, and shekere, playing traditional and contemporary music spanning from the western to southern Africa. The performances are rich with call and response singing and audience participation as instruments are demonstrated, songs, and even dances are taught. Forestdance displays the melodic beauty of African music in an exciting way for audiences of all ages. Each concert is a unique musical and educational journey into African culture - ancient to present day.

The Conservatory, located in Pearl River, and currently celebrating its 60th year, is a not-for-profit community music school and center for the performing arts, created to provide quality professional music instruction to students of diverse ages, abilities and financial backgrounds and to provide a community forum for performing arts, culture and entertainment.
