Pearl River Baseball Battles Back, Beats North

Pearl River scored three runs without a hit in the bottom of the sixth inning to defeat Clarkstown North, 3-2, Saturday

Pearl River got more hit batsmen than hits Saturday at home against Clarkstown North, but that didn't stop the Pirates.

Pearl River scored three runs on a walk, two batters hit by pitches and two fielder's choices bottom of the sixth inning to defeat Clarkstown North, 3-2.

Clarkstown North had taken the lead in the top of the sixth on two unearned runs against winning pitcher Mike Scarinci.

Pearl River's Brendan Ryan and Clarkstown North's Monroe Perkins shut down the opposition for the first five innings. Ryan blanked the Rams for five innings before Scarinci pitched the final two. Perkins gave up only one hit, by Pearl River's Jake Tedesco, in six innings.

Pearl River improved to 4-3 with the victory. The Pirates are scheduled to play Beacon 7 p.m. Monday in Dutchess Stadium, the home of the minor-league Hudson Valley Renegades, a New York-Penn League Affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays in Fishkill.
