Pearl River Football Fighting for Top Seed in Class A
Pearl River has a shot at the top seed in the Section 1 Class A playoffs if it can win at Bronxville 7 p.m. today. The Section 1 playoff pairings will be released to school athletic directors Sunday, Oct. 23.
The Pearl River Football team clearly enjoyed celebrating its Little Brown Jug game victory over Nanuet Oct. 15.
They just didn't get to do it for long.
Head Coach Jeff Michael said his team followed its victory as it has every game this season, by celebrating until Monday and then getting on with the business of preparing for the next opponent.

"We tell the kids. Celebrate tonight. Celebrate tomorow. Monday we go back to work," Michael said. "Getting ready for the next opponent, you have got to have a short memory."

Pearl River won't even have that much time to get ready for the next game after Bronxville. The Section 1 football playoff pairings will be sent out to local athletic directors Sunday morning. The first round will be played Thursday, Oct. 27. Second-round games in Class A are set for Tuesday, Nov. 1, with the championship Sunday, Nov. 7 at Mahopac.
"Fortunately, in Section 1, everybody has to deal with the same thing," Michael said. "It is two full less days to watch video and scout your opponent."
Michael said his team can win the top seed in Class A with a victory tonight. The Pirates could still be at home Thursday even with a loss at Bronxville, but it would hurt their seeding.
