Pearl River Girls, Boys Cross Country Win League 4B Championships

The Pearl River girls cross country team placed four runners among the top six to earn their 33rd consecutive league championship, taking the team title in the League 4B meet Tuesday at Bear Mountain.

Molly Shine finished second overall in 18:14.90, with teammates Kelly Hayes third, Caili McMorrow fifth and Maria Kohlbrenner sixth.

Pearl River finished with 27 total points, beating out second-place Nanuet (37) and third-place Tappan Zee (67). Megan Young of Nanuet finished first overall indivually in 18:03.88.

Pearl River's depth also played a key role in the boys meet, where the Pirates won their seventh consecutive team championship. Pearl River placed four runners in the top six.

Tappan Zee took the first two individual spots with Nathan Kotch (15:58.29) and Joe Dinan , but the Pirates took the next four, with Joe Clinton third, Stephen McNiff fourth, Kieran Brennan fifth and Brian Edsall sixth.

Pearl River took the team title with 26 points to Tappan Zee's 34.
