Pearl River High School To Conduct Mock Accident

Pearl River high School will put on a mock accident for students in grades 10-12 by the old administrative parking lot Tuesday, May 22 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.

Pearl River High School will demonstrate the potential consequences of drinking and driving in the old administration lot next to the high school Tuesday, May 22.

Pearl River High School is conducting a mock accident for students in grades 10-12 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. In addition to local emergency agencies, the demonstration will include a helicopter landing on the baseball field.

The Pearl River Ambulance Corps, Pearl River Fire Department and Orangetown Police Department will be participating in the event, which was organized by Pearl River High School's Students Against Destructive Decisions. The goal is to increase awareness of the dangers of drinking and driving.

"It's important to heighten awareness, especially with Senior Prom and summer vacation a few weeks away," Pearl River High School Principal William Furdon said. "We hope that this event makes a lasting impression on our students."

Clarkstown North High School ran a similar mock accident June 11, 2010 as a reminder to drive safely right before the school's prom. Pictures from that re-enactment are attached to this report.
