Pearl River Kindergarten Screening and Registration: Jan. 29-Feb. 3

The Pearl River School District will hold a simultaneous registration and screening for incoming kindergartners for September 2015 between the hours of 8:30 AM and 3:30 PM on the following days: Thursday, January 29th, Friday, January 30th, Monday, February 2nd, and Tuesday, February 3rd.

Parents should contact any of the three elementary schools to make an appointment for you and your child. However, all actual appointments will be held at the Pearl River School District office at 135 West Crooked Hill Road. This is a different process than years past in an effort to streamline the process of registration and screening for our families. Appointments fill up quickly. We recommend you call for an appointment by Friday, January 23, 2015.

Children must be five years old on or before December 1, 2015 to be eligible for admission to kindergarten in September 2015. A birth certificate with raised seal or other official documentation providing date of birth, a record of immunizations, and two (2) proofs of residence within the Pearl River School District are required at registration. Specific information regarding documents needed for registration can be found on the district website (www.pearlriver.org) under the “Kindergarten Registration for 2015-16” tab.

In order to plan and provide for all new students, it is especially important that the district identify all children expected to enroll in September. Pearl River’s three elementary schools – Evans Park, Franklin Avenue, and Lincoln Avenue - accommodate students in grades kindergarten through four. Enrollment is assigned across all three schools. While geographic boundaries serve as a general guideline, school assignment will depend on class size and special education and ELL programming. Families will be notified regarding building assignment in the summer.
