Pearl River Lanes Opens Doors To Help A Family In Need
A fundraiser for Linda Parvis to help with medical bills during her battle with cancer began Friday night continues Sunday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Pearl River Lanes.
All families face hardships and fall upon occasional hard times.
Sometimes the only option is to come together. That is exactly what the Parvis family has done.
Linda Parvis, a Rockland county resident and mother, is fighting the battle of her life—a battle that has affected families everywhere for years—the battle against cancer.

Starting at 7 p.m. Friday evening, the owners of Pearl River Lanes donated their time and space to help support a fundraiser benefiting Linda Parvis and her family.
“Linda has been a long time patron of ours,” said Richard Lesica of Pearl River Lanes. “She ended up contracting cancer and the bills are astronomical. Linda has been in the community for a long time and has bowled here for a long time. It was an easy decision for us when we decided to get involved.”

It is the Parvis family themselves stepping up and putting together this fundraiser. Nick Parvis and Danielle McKay are both doing all they can to help their ailing step-mother.
“(Linda) was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer,” said Nick Parvis. “It spread throughout her body. After having surgery in her skull, they realized the cells were intertwined and they could only get 10 percent out. We felt we had to do something to help and decided to hold this fundraiser.”
“A lot of preparation has gone into this,” said McKay. “We’ve gotten a lot of support from a lot of her friends, it has been wonderful. We are trying to spread the word about this and do all we can to help her.”
The fundraiser will hold a second session on Sunday, Aug. 7 from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. All proceeds benefit the Parvis family and will be put towards medical bills. A $30-per-person admission includes two games, shoe rental, a raffle ticket, a soda and a slice of pizza. The cost is $20 for five raffle tickets, a soda and a slice without bowling.
“(Linda) was in a bowling league here,” said Nick Parvis. “It is great to see these people come, show their love, respect and that they are thinking about her. It should be a good turnout.”
