Pearl River Man Indicted on 16 Counts Over 3-Car Crash
The accident in Clarkstown sent six to the hospital including Matthew Beckerle, who faces assault and DWI charges.

Matthew Beckerle was indicted on Sept. 16 by a Rockland County Grand Jury in connection with a car crash in Clarkstown that left several people seriously injured.
The charges against the 40-year-old Pearl River resident are:
- Vehicular Assault in 1st Degree,
- Vehicular Assault in the 2nd Degree (4 Counts)
- Assault in the 2nd Degree (4 Counts),
- Assault in the 3rd Degree (5 Counts)
- Driving While Intoxicated
District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe said that at about 9:40 p.m. June 13, 2015, Beckerle was driving at a high rate of speed southbound on Route 304 in the area of Kings Highway when he rear-ended a vehicle with two occupants.

He then swerved into the northbound lanes of Route 304 and crashed head on into another vehicle with three occupants. Both vehicles were totaled due to the force of impact. The occupants of both vehicles all suffered serious physical injury, Zugibe said.
