Pearl River Residents Host ALS Golf Outing and Dinner in Memory of Local Man

Come on out and show your support for the ALS community!

On Wednesday, May 13th, family, friends and neighbors as well as members of the general public are gathering at the Blue Hill Golf Course in Pearl River for the 11th Annual John Redden Memorial Golf Outing and Dinner.

Involved in the community and well-known and liked throughout the Pascack Valley, John Redden’s love and commitment to his family and fellow citizens remained steadfast through his ALS diagnosis, until his eventual passing over a decade ago.

ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that leads to paralysis, and the eventual death of those afflicted. ALS strips people of their ability to move, speak, and swallow all while their minds remain intact. At this moment, there are approximately 30,000 people in the US living with ALS, and the average patient survives only two to five years following his or her diagnosis.
