Pearl River Rolls Past North Rockland
The Pearl River girls basketball team used a big third quarter to pull away from North Rockland for a 60-35 victory in its home opener Wednesday.
The Pearl River girls basketball took a 13-point lead to halftime despite a cold-shooting second quarter in the Pirates' home opener against the North Rockland Red Raiders Wednesday afternoon.
Then the Pirates started hitting shots. Pearl River pulled away with an 18-2 run in the third quarter to defeat North Rockland, 60-35, and improve to 2-0 on the season.
Pearl River Head Coach Lorraine Moylan, who moved closer to a milestone with her 498th career victory, removed her starters after three periods. Senior Christa Scognamiglio led the Pirates with 17 points and senior Allison Cook added 10.
