Pearl River School Board Elects President, VP in Reorganization Meeting

The Pearl River Board of Education voted Robert Davis as its president at Tuesday's reorganization meeting.

Davis, a past president, had most recently been vice president. Michael Clohessy had spent the last five years as Pearl River's school board president.

Jackie Curtiss, who was re-elected to the board May 16, was voted vice president Tuesday night. Curtiss is in her 10th year on Pearl River's school board.

"I'd like to congratulate Mr. Davis and Mrs. Curtiss for being voted president and vice president," Clohessy said, before joking. "There is a stack of contracts in the back for you to sign."

Part of Tuesday's reorganization meeting was the swearing in of Davis and Curtiss to their new positions. Curtiss and Bruce Bond, who was also re-elected in May, took their oaths, as did Superintendent of Schools Dr. John Morgano and District Clerk Mary Flanagan.

Davis was also sworn in as Pearl River's representative to Rockland BOCES July 5, where he is taking over for Tom DePrisco.

"I am already receiving celebration for last year's work," Davis said. "What they are saying is Tom DePrisco did a great job."

The district also set its meeting schedule for 2012-13 as part of Tuesday's reorganization meeting. The dates are as follows:
