Pearl River Schools Went Into Lock Out as Precaution
Pearl River Schools were locked down for 20 minutes Wednesday afternoon.
Pearl River Superintendent of Schools Dr. John Morgano sent out a notice to district parents and guardians to inform them that Pearl River Schools implemented lock-out procedures for less than 20 minutes earlier Wednesday afternoon.
In lock out, all students and school personnel are brought into the building and the doors are locked. No one is allowed in or out.Â
The district received a call from the Orangetown Police Department at approximately 12:40 p.m. informing them that a threat of an incident at an "unspecified school" had been called in to the Haverstraw Police Department.

There were indications that a middle school was being threatened, but the district's elementary schools were put into lock out mode as well as Pearl River Middle School. The adminstration was in touch with the high school when the lock out was removed.Â
No direct threat was made against Pearl River Schools. The police determined that there was no credible threat and the lock out was cancelled at 1 p.m.

"Please be assured that the safety of our students and staff is our top priority," Morgano said through the notification. "We apologize to anyone that may have been refuse dentry to a school during the 20-minute period."
