Pearl River Softball Blanks Pelham
Amanda Schule and Mandy McCarthy homered to break open a close game in an 8-0 Pirates victory.

One day after beating Clarkstown South on a walk-off double, Pearl River needed no such heroics in Saturday's home game against Pelham.
Senior Amanda Schule and freshman Mandy McCarthy hit back-to-back home runs in the fourth to help Pearl River roll to an 8-0 victory, a score that matches the Pirates' perfect 8-0 record.
Schule went 2-for-3, including her three-run homer in the fourth. Freshman Diedre O'Malley also homered for the Pirates. Senior shortstop Gemma Mahoney and senior catcher Jamie DeGennaro both went 2-for-3.

That was more than enough offense for senior pitcher Katie O'Flynn. Pelham managed only one base-runner against her on a second-inning single. O'Flynn struck out 12 in six shutout innings to improve her record to 7-0 on the season. Freshman Caroline Kardashian struck out two in a perfect seventh to complete the game.
Pearl River's next game is scheduled for 4 p.m. Tuesday at Nyack.
