Pearl River Sweeps Boys, Girls Rockland County XC Titles

The Pearl River boys cross country team lost its previous meeting with North Rockland and Suffern this season, but turned that outcome around when the teams battled for Rockland County championship Friday at Bear Mountain.

Pearl River won both the boys and girls team championships, with the Pirates ending North Rockland's three-year run in the boys meet. Pearl River placed four individual runners in the top 10, led by senior Joe Clinton in fourth.

Tappan Zee senior Nathan Kotch won the individual boys title in a time fo 15:44.96, narrowly beating out teammate Joe Dinan.

The Pearl River girls also took four of the top 10 individual spots, led by Kelly Hayes in second overall, on the way to their 22nd county title in 35 seasons.

Suffern freshman Kate Zendell took first overall in the girls race in 17:49.60. Nanuet's Megan Young was third.
