Police: Nanuet Man Driving With Blown Tire Charged With DWI

A Nanuet man was charged with drunken driving after he was spotted driving on the shoulder of Route 340 in Orangeburg with a blown tired that had torn away from the car, according to Orangetown police.
Antony Ephrem, 33, of 34 Normandy Village was stopped by police at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday. Police said the rear, passenger-side tire was down to the bare steel rim.
Police said Ephrem appeared intoxicated and he failed field sobriety checks. Ephrem was taken to nearby Orangetown police headquarters, where police said he failed a chemical breath test for alcohol.

Ephrem was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and was released about 8 p.m. to a family member pending an April 25 court hearing.
