Police Turn House Fire into Teaching Moment

Residents were displaced after a blaze in Blauvelt - they hadn't called 911

A fire on Pine Glen Drive March 1 left the home uninhabitable, Orangetown police said.

Heavy smoke and fire was coming from an upstairs bedroom when officers arrived. Emergency responders had to help two residents out of the house.

Just after 6pm last night, the Blauvelt Volunteer Fire Company responded to a reported structure fire on Pine Glen Drive with possible occupants trapped. We would like to thank all those that responded including West Nyack FD, Nyack FD, Pearl River FD, Tappan FD, Central Nyack FD, OPD, Orange and Rockland, United Water, SOAC, Rockland Fire Coordinators, Orangetown Fire Inspector, Sheriff BCI, and Rockland Paramedics
