PRHS Presents 'You Can't Take It With You'

Pearl River High School students will perform 'You Can't Take It With You' the weekend of October 27th.

PEARL RIVER, NY - From the Pearl River School District: Students at Pearl River High School will be performing You Can’t take it With You by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman. Grandpa Vanderhof (played by senior T.J. Sullivan) and his wacky family, Paul and Penelope Sycamore (played by juniors Ryan Ott and Bridget Maye), have been happily living their zany lives in his house by Columbia University in New York for many years. This family (and their friends) are a madcap group of eccentrics, marching to the beat of their own drum, with pride and joy. Their hobbies include collecting snakes, building fireworks in the basement, writing a myriad of plays that never get published, and taking ballet lessons. Things like stress, jobs, and paying taxes to the government are for other people, not for them! But when practical young Alice Sycamore (played by senior Julianne Watson) becomes engaged to her company’s Vice President Tony Kirby (played by junior Robert Buhrmeister), the Vanderhof/Sycamore clan must straighten up to meet the new in-laws. Disaster ensues and it isn’t until Grandpa’s wise speech to Mr. Kirby about the importance of living life to the fullest that the two families find a way to accept each other, and love conquers all. You Can’t Take It With You is a madcap, idealistic comedy that reinforces the idea that you can only live life to the fullest by doing whatever makes you happy.

You Can’t Take It With You will be performed at 7:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, October 27th and 28th at the Pearl River High School auditorium. Tickets for these evening performances are available at the door for a cost of $8 for students/senior citizens and $10 for adults. There will also be a special free performance for Pearl River senior citizens on Thursday, October 26th at 3:30 p.m.

Pearl River High School is located at 275 East Central Avenue in Pearl River. Take the first entrance off of East Central Avenue and drive around the building to the flagpole parking lot. Both the main office and auditorium entrance are near the flagpole.
