Remembering Our Veterans

Rockland is an ideal County for our veterans

The Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians [LAOH] is a National Catholic Irish American Fraternal/Sisterhood Organization pledged to God & County. The LAOH Division III, headquartered on Railroad Avenue in Pearl River is dedicated to the principles of Friendship, Unity and Christian Charity, the promotion and preservation of our Irish and Irish American Heritage and Culture and Catholic traditions and civic and community participation.Just one example of its civic and community participation is how they made another contribution to the Rockland Homes For Heroes Supportive Apartments for homeless veterans Project located on the last parcel of Camp Shanks on Western Highway in Tappan. The contribution was made in memory of all who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our beloved Country and to pay homage to them on Memorial Day & D-Day, the day that so many were killed who passed through Camp Shanks, the world’s largest WII Port Of Embarkation for troops going to Europe to fight the nazi army. The contribution will be used to help add 14 more Supportive Apartments to the existing 8, which together will create a Living Memorial to those who never came home. The photo of LAOH Division III President Teresa Hartey-Adametz, Treasurer Linda Sheridan, Past President Terry McGeever, Members Mary O'Sullivan, Katie Basler & Amy Johnson was taken in front of the future building site which was once the HQ of the Cold War Nike Missile Program in Rockland County. To Learn more, please visit www.rocklandhomesforheroes.org or email me at murphy6288@icloud.com
