Rep. Jones Nominates Pearl River Resident To Service Academy

PEARL RIVER, NY — U.S. Rep. Mondaire Jones announced 15 nominees from the 17th Congressional District to armed services academies, including Daniel McCarvill, who was appointed to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

McCarvill was one of five nominees from Rockland County:

• Hunter Thomas, Suffern: Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs
• Matthew Clifford, West Nyack: US Military Academy, West Point
• Mia Dolan, Congers: U.S. Military Academy, West Point
• Daniel Choi, West Nyack: Naval Academy, Annapolis
• Daniel McCarvill, Pearl River: Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point

Students will report to the academies for basic training this summer.

Jones offered his congratulations.

"These outstanding students have dedicated themselves to developing their leadership skills and strengthening the community around them," he said in the announcement. "They have answered the call to serve and I’m proud they will represent New York’s 17th Congressional District.”
