As 2023 approaches, there are significantly fewer cases and less risk of severe illness thanks to the wide availability of coronavirus vaccinations and treatments, officials said.
As of yesterday, there were 43 new COVID cases in the county, according to the state Health Department. Since the pandemic began, Rockland has had 113,217 cases, the eighth-highest case load in the state outside of New York City, behind Suffolk, Nassau, Westchester, Erie, Monroe, Onondaga and Orange counties.

Creating and updating the dashboards is a labor-intensive process that duplicates what will continue to be provided on the New York State Department of Health website. The move will enable the county to divert these resources to other health concerns, officials said.
“I want to recognize our Planning Department and Health Department personnel who took on this difficult task at the onset of the pandemic," Day said. "This dashboard was crucial in navigating our way through the pandemic and I thank both departments for their tireless work facilitating that."
The New York State Department of Health continues to provide a variety of data and information on its dashboard, including but not limited to, trends in positive tests, circulating variants, vaccinations, and hospitalizations. Find that information on their website.
