South Orangetown Schools Calendar 2015-16

You may be thinking about how many more days you can go to the beach, but the first day of school is just around the corner. With that in mind, here are important dates for the 2015-16 school year in the South Orangetown school district.

First day of school: Sept. 8

Rosh Hashanah (school closed): Sept. 14, 15

Yom Kippur (school closed): Sept. 23

Columbus Day (school closed): Oct. 12

Veterans Day (no school): Nov. 11

Elementary Superintendent Conference Day (half day): Nov. 13

Superintendent Conference Day (half day): Nov. 25

Thanksgiving (school closed): Nov. 26-27

Secondary Superintendent Conference Day (half day): Dec. 11

Holiday recess: Dec. 24-Jan. 1 (school resumes Jan. 4)

Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday (school closed): Jan. 18

Midwinter recess (school closed): Feb. 15, 16

Superintendent’s Conference Day (school closed): March 11

Spring recess I: March 21-28 (also March 29 if 0, 1 or 2 snow days used)

Spring recess #2: April 22

Superintendent Conference Day: April 29

Memorial Day (school closed): May 30 (plus May 27 if 0, 1 or 2 snow days used)

Modified schedule: June 20-24

TZHS graduation: June 23

Last day of school: June 24
