Teachers Play Volleyball, Raise Scholarship Money

District administrators and teachers from Pearl River's high school, middle school and elementary schools competed in the Pearl River Teacher's Association's volleyball tournament

Teachers from elementary, middle and high schools competed in the Pearl River Teacher's Association’s second annual volleyball tournament, held Tuesday and Wednesday at Pearl River High School.

Pearl River's elementary schools competed Tuesday, with Lincoln Avenue Elementary School taking first place, Franklin Avenue Elementary School taking second place and a team of administrators taking third place. Lincoln Avenue was also awarded the spirit award for having the most fans, banners and signs at the game.

Middle and high school teams competed on the second day, with social studies teachers from Pearl River High School winning their second consecutive title. A team of middle school teachers won second place and match teachers from the high school took home third.

All the money raised at the event goes to scholarships for seniors graduating the high school. The PRTA awards approximately $12,000 in scholarships each year.
