On this special two-hour guided tour led by Judge William Sherwood, we’ll pass through the “new” court building added just ten years ago on our way to the historic 1929 Rockland County Courthouse. Highlights include:

  • Classic Art Deco architecture and decoration, including fountains and waterfall depictions.
  • Two historic courtrooms in use continuously since 1929 in their original condition.
  • A tour of the newly restored Dutch Garden, designed by the famous art critic and landscape architect Mary Mowbray-Clarke.

The courts contain original art from the Art Deco era and new art installed by the Arts in Public Places initiative of Rockland, as well as oil portraits of Rockland County judges. The tour will conclude with light refreshments surrounded by beauty at the Dutch Garden tea house.
