• Peconic Land Trust purchase of 4-H Camp progressing towards closure (timesreview.com) — A major land preservation deal involving Peconic Land Trust, Suffolk County, and Riverhead Town is moving toward closing on the historic 145-acre 4-H camp in Baiting Hollow, with a realistic target in early 2027. The plan would permanently protect 40 acres of farmland and nearly 36 acres of open space extending the Sound Avenue Nature Preserve, while allowing the camp to keep operating and offering new passive recreation opportunities for local residents.
