Here are some of the events going on in Westchester County Parks this weekend. And of course, the county's pools and beaches are open!

Friday, July 28
Lasdon Park, Arboretum and Veterans Memorial, Route 35, Somers – (914) 864-7268
Music in the Park – 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Back to the Garden performs favorites from Woodstock. Bring a picnic or purchase food and beverages. Admission $10 per person. Info at LasdonPark.org.

Trailside Nature Museum at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, Routes 35 and 121 South, Cross River – (914) 864-7322
Sixth Annual Firefly Festival – 7:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
Meet at the end of Michigan Road for an ice cream social and to view the night lights of this magnificent insects.

Playland Park, Playland Parkway, Rye – (914) 813-7010
Big Band on the Boardwalk – 7:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.
Milt Gerver and his orchestra perform music from the Big Band Era on the boardwalk. Bring chairs for seating. Also 8/4. Rain date: 8/11.

Music and entertainment, fun and games. Free with paid pool admission. Rain date: 7/30.

Volunteer Work Project: Spreading Wood Chips along the Hiking Trails – 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.
Bring work gloves; hand tools provided. Great for service credit hours.

Art Show – Noon – 4 p.m.
Works by local artist Michelle Nicolosi on view in the Main House Gallery on weekends through July 30.
