30-Year-Old Peekskill Man Charged With Stabbing, Arson After Standoff
Police began looking for Shane Gilleo after finding Edward Reeves dying on James Street.

PEEKSKILL, NY — Peekskill police identified the man accused of killing a fellow resident and then setting fires in an apartment Wednesday as Shane Gilleo, 3o.

Police began looking for Gilleo after finding Edward Reeves bleeding from several stab wounds in front of 7 N. James St. at 12:30 a.m. Reeves, 48, died at Westchester Medical Center.

Police then learned the homicide suspect had barricaded himself on the second floor of a multi-family residence at 10 Grant Ave.
While negotiating for his surrender, officers saw smoke and fire inside the building. The Peekskill Fire Department was called to fight the blaze. Gilleo then shattered a second floor porch window and climbed out.

He was caught, arrested and transported to Westchester Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
After the fire was extinguished, investigation by the Westchester County Department of Public Safety found several fires had been set throughout the second floor apartment.
Gilleo was taken to Westchester Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. He was charged with second-degree murder and third-degree arson. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday in Peekskill city court.
