Accused Of Stealing iPhones From Walmart In Cortlandt

New York State Police said he was arrested on a second trip.

CORTLANDT, NY – A Bronx resident is accused of a scheme to steal iPhones from the Walmart in the Cortlandt Town Center. On March 9, the New York State Police arrested Richard Diaz, 23, for Grand Larceny in the 3rd degree, Possession of a Forged Instrument in the 2nd degree, and Identity Theft in the 1st degree, all class D felonies.

On March 6, 2018, troopers received a complaint of larceny from Walmart. They allege Diaz opened a line of credit using a fake identification card and an assumed identity to purchase three iPhone X cellular devices. Then Diaz visited Walmart on March 9, attempting to obtain a fourth phone, police said. He was arrested.

Diaz was arraigned before the town of Cortlandt Court and sent to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $7,500 bond.
