• Birdsall House Owner Ordered to Pay $52K in Past Due Rent (peekskillherald.com) — A Peekskill City Court judge has ordered the company behind Birdsall House to pay more than $52,000 in back rent to the landlord of 970 Main Street, following the restaurant's recent closure. The ruling caps a long-running dispute over lease payments and comes as the landlord prepares to seek a new tenant for the historic downtown space.
• State Police Arrest Three for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in Peekskill (yonkerstimes.com) — Three men were arrested after State Police say they found a loaded handgun during a traffic stop on Main Street in the City of Peekskill, and all are due back in Peekskill City Court on August 21. Two of the defendants are Peekskill residents, and all three are being held in Westchester County Jail on bail while facing felony weapon charges.
• 2026 lohud Elite 11 girls soccer watch list features more than 100 (lohud.com) — A massive lohud watch list spotlights more than 100 standout girls soccer players from Section 1, including Peekskill's own Valeria Otavalo among the returning talents to watch. With the fall season about to kick off, the list previews who could drive deep playoff runs across Westchester, Rockland and Putnam schools.
